well tiled

on my list of must-haves for my dream home one day is a patterned tiled kitchen.  i think it's such a great way to add interest, layer and depth, and character to a room - all the while it's easy to keep clean and only looks better with age.

I agree! I think these are all lovely! Would you pick a more subdued color since the pattern is busy. Or go bold all around?

Did you see the DIY feature on this on Little Green Notebook last week? So neat!

I am about to do this in my own kitchen - as a back splash. Any good shopping source recommendations for tiles?

here is some wall paper inspiration I stumbled across in my search, if papering makes more sense as an alternative to tile:

I would love a tiled floor or at least one of the walls tiled in my next home! I always thought it was so pretty!

I love ornate tile! Homes and buildings in Europe and Russia and the Middle East often have such beautiful tile work, I feel like we miss out on this in the US. I like the ones with more than one color. I'm definitely doing this to my place when I'm not renting : )

I love these! They give each room a totally different feeling based on the color and pattern. They also stand the test of time and get better with age. Great round-up!

Wow, one is prettier than the next. Sure makes my white subway tiles look pretty lame this morning, ha! Thanks for the inspiration!

I adore them all but fear I would get tired of them over time. So, the solution would be to have them in a second home. Now! I have a reason to push the hubby for a second home. Don't you love the rationale there! Thanks for sharing these. Have a great weekend. M.

Beautiful! I love the vibrancy of the photographs. I recently put in a bright pink rug into my room which matches with my quirky fashion taste!
