dream bathroom

i'm working with a e-design client on this dreamy bathroom. i've been itching to use anthropologie's mineral study wallpaper, and i've finally found the perfect opportunity - a powder room at the beach.

on my mind

a furbished guest bedroom

we installed a quick and easy guest bedroom redo this week, and i snapped a few pics after we finished up. this was for a great client who lives just around the corner from the shop -- she had a totally empty guest bedroom she wanted to turn into a comfy retreat for visitors. we worked with her current brass bed, a few pieces of artwork and an old channel back chair that we reupholstered for her. all of the other bits were new purchases, but done with reasonable budget with a quick turnaround.

week in review

hello out there.  i hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and is able to have their windows open and a fall scented candle burning.  this girl is.

here's how this week shaped up.


we gave a few tables the old flamingo leg treatment


izzie finally got on top of shipping

brian meares has a tomato and pepper garden at furbish that has been bountiful.  we made some hot sauce this weekend and bottled it


i stopped in to check on this client's happy guestroom



we got these cute new mrs necklaces in at the shop -- just a little something blue

paris wants to be the new face of theodora and cattum


and, i helped my mom with some new house shopping - we snagged this major piece from anthropologie for her living room

3 ways to style: a console

we got busy this week styling an awesome console that's new at the shop. it's just such a great piece for an entryway because it's long and lean with just enough interest to make it extra special.  i was inspired to welcome it properly -- here are three ways to make it feel at home.


LOOK ONE: been around the world and here's what i have to show for it.


to make this look work, we used two containers from anthropologie as vases for live cuttings from the yard, adding height on the ends of the vignette.  we tucked a bench under the console, added a basket with some pillows and sprinkled in lots textures for interest, like the shell box, the blue and white bowl, the brass armadillo and the rope frame.  the kilim rug completes the traveled and curated feel.



LOOK TWO: if you're happy and you know it then your console will surely show it


here we used two black gourd lamps on either end to keep the look from feeling too sweet , and peppered in major pops of fun with the gold pig, the black and white canisters, the lotus flower, a pretty candle and a happy-hued stack of books.  the wildflowers in the pink votive are an easy way to pick an entry up and make you smile when you walk in.



LOOK THREE: red, white & blue ain't so hard to do.


big pieces make a huge statement in this vignette - we used a colorful framed print to anchor the look, and filled in with an assortment of blue and white porcelain, a pretty moment in the chevron tray, and a moroccan rug to add a luxe feel to this collected grouping.

fall at furbish

we're getting ready for fall with a few photoshoots here at the store - here's a pretty one we wrapped up yesterday featuring our new handpainted pooch pillow, our collection of new blue and white jars, the small ginger pots, our amethyst votive holder, and a zig zag kilim

mom's pretty pink guestroom

my parents are moving to raleigh at the end of the month, so i snapped a few pics of their pretty guestroom to share with you before my mom packs it all up. it's a small bedroom, but full of punch!
