such a great trick - hang a big piece of artwork over a bookcase and you'll look extra clever, and extra chic.

Yeah, I too am opposed to the book-access blockage.
I think it looks fabulous! You don't have to put books behind the picture, or you can put books you don't use. We all have those!
Hahaha, I was going to comment on the book access as well!
I don't think the painting in the book case is practical. You can't have an easy access with the books behind it. It may look good but books are precious too and should be read.
