i'm en route to LA with keila and nick to do some general empire expanding. we're going to scout out some new stuff for furbpartdeux and look for some inspiration on bringing a little california cool to raleigh-town. praise martin lawrence bullard i get a break from the 105 degree heat in NC for a few days. furbish will be closed tomorrow and saturday, but it looks like it will be too hot to leave the house anywho.

but i did try and shoot a little tour of the shop -- since we're moving, and lots of you will never get the chance to see my humble beginnings, here's a little romp around the store for you.

but today i did. and look what i found. i think that coral linen bedding would be pretty delicious.

young people, furbish is moving.


we have rented a tremendous old industrial warehouse in downtown raleigh and we're going to attempt something that is so fabulous in scale and donkeytastic in scope that it's likely to change the entire ballgame.  (if i was a rapper, this would be lyric worthy)

in the fall, we're moving into 3500 square feet of concrete floors, brick walls, wooden beamed ceilings and turn of the century windows.

we hope this flagship store becomes a mecca for design lovers and trend setters all over the country.

we're going to have art installations, inspiration boards bigger than a whale, pink sofas, glitter on the floor (literally! ke$ha - do you really have glitter on your floor?), crazy wallpaper you've only dreamed about, awe-inspiring vignettes, walls and walls of custom pillows, artwork that might complete you, so much more loved up vintage furniture, lucite goodness, golden nuggets hanging from the ceiling, lacquer, chrome, bamboo, spots and flecks and stripes and velvet sofas.  there will be more jewelry, we're adding a carefully edited selection of clothing, a pink silk dressing room, whole walls of designer fabric, new lighting must-have accessories for your home and yummy old rugs.  plus we'll be able to most more events, classes and general get togethers where we could just waller in piles of pillows.

possibly not as exciting for you, but positively THRILLING to me: i'll have an office of my own, a huge organized storage room, a wireless printer!, a full time furniture painter, a KITCHEN!, a parking lot with 25 spaces, and rowdy can romp from one end of the space to the other in sheer dog delight.

i'm putting every ounce of myself into this endeavor and i hopehopehope you'll make a plan to come visit once we open the new doors this fall!

beach essentials

brian meares and i try to make it to the beach at least every other weekend - these days it's about the only time we get to spend together b/c i'm busy putting pink glitter on things.  i throw together a bag every weekend, and i'm always sure to pack these essentials: a great coverup that you can throw on for lunch, or to jaunst down to the beach (out of stock unfortunately), my pendleton towels always make me happy, roberta roller rabbit pillows are the perfect punch for the beach, my floppy hat keeps my freckles from multiplying any faster, a good book, the bag that holds it all, a tervis to keep my beach beverages frosty, we use mexican serapes for bedspreads - they're the perfect light weight for the summer nights, this moisturizer is so great after a day in the sun, reef leather flip flops are a chic alternative to rainbows.
