let's talk about these things

oh this is a good thing. in sofa news, i've been putting velvet on every sofa i can find. it's soft. holds up well. doesn't stain too badly. is nice to caress.

now look at those curtains. isn't that smart. bang for your buck - two colors of ready made panels = major impact. mary mcdonald wants us to do more of this. ps. have you read her new book. she goes into the loon category too. there's a particular passage where she talks about putting her collection of crystal vases on a coffee table. she did it because, "well, it had never been done before!". imagain that.

put. me. in. this. also spotted over at amber's. she likes stuff i like.

I'll take one of each! Except for that crazy swing... I'll take two of those.

I love that green sofa in the first pic. It's so beautiful and stylish. I have always wanted a green silk velvet sofa, preferably extra long and button-turfed.

And the colorful hanging chair is totally chic.

Love this post!

By the way, great blog. I am a new follower. Oh, I used to lived in NC till 2009, always frequent Glenwood Avenue(for furniture window shopping, mostly) but haven't seen your store. Is your store new? I am just wondering....If you have been there forever, I would be kicking myself for not finding out sooner and checking you out!

i have dark grey panels to put up and was totally thinking of adding white but wondered if that would make me look like a loon...perhaps it will but I still <3 the way the curtains look!

I like those kitchen chairs. I have plain brown chairs and table hand me downs, I hadn't thought to paint them!

All of my couches are velveteen situations, I keep feeling like I should branch out, but I don't wanna.

Living life on the wild side looks kinda fun! I looove velvet and could easily upholster everything in my home in that sumptious fabric...so luxe!

Velvet makes me itch, which in turn makes me sad. But I could totally do all of this other stuff! Especially the panels and the chairs in the last image - such a fun dash of color!

doesn't stain too badly

Not sure where you got this information. When velvet stains, it looks awful.

Yes. Let's talk about these things. Especially the things in the first picture. I need to recover my sofa. Already. Partly because I'm sick of the fabric, but mostly because Mr. Darcy has attacked the cushions one too many times. I need a fabric that wears well but doesn't look like romper room material. Velvet?

I am assuming that is the famed Ikea kitchen table...and what are the paint colors on the chairs? Can't get close enough to see. Or what magazine or link...??? So clever for those old fugly chairs.
