I just found you, and I'm in the process of devouring your archives. I'm not as organized as you are, but you are absolutely welcome to mine. Second the windfall, though.
man i went to the most amazing place in winston salem that had great charm and style and i can't for the life of me remember the name! i'll search away and if i find it - come back, promise.
I haven't been back to the dash since college, but here are my suggestions: Graylyn, Millenium Center (I've been there for concerts, but I'm sure it would work since it's kind of a blank slate), and there might be somewhere in Old Salem that would work.
Not sure if "swanky" can be found in the Dash, but I'd rec Camel City. The food is really good. 6th and Vine is fun too. Graylyn is nice but it's going to be $$$.
I too like highstreet market. Some of my new finds are: http://knightmovesblog.blogspot.com/,http://sochic-events.blogspot.com/, http://fordesignssake.blogspot.com/, http://www.mattersofstyleblog.com/, http://havenandhome.blogspot.com/, http://thebedlamofbeefy.blogspot.com/and http://plushpalate.blogspot.com/. Happy reading!
I'm a huge fan of your blog...love seeing all the "real life" pics of your home and store:) I started a blog last week that you might be interested in: ablondeandabrunetteblog.blogspot.com
I can only help with number 2, lord knows that I'd be all over number 3 if I could!
EF eDesigns An interior design blog and e-decorating business - a mix of DIY projects, inspiring spaces, beginning a business discussion www.EFeDesigns.wordpress.com
Check out NOMA in Winston-Salem, not sure of the price but very great atmosphere. Our company CAN DECORATIVE PAINTING did the painting, if you go to our web site you can see photos. www.candecorativepaint.com We're in Chapel Hill.
I don't know if you're looking for personal blogs or decorating blogs, but I have a list of about 50 that I read daily (includes lots of each). I'm sure you're more in the loop on decorating blogs, though! I used to live in Raleigh and my husband is from Winston-Salem (I'm actually flying up there tonight for a 1-year-old birthday party tomorrow!) I love your blog and your sense of style!
Drawn only from wedding experience: Indoor - Brookstown Inn. Outdoor - Tanglewood Manor House. SECCA would be nice, too. Maybe some gallery on 4th St could be rented out? It's hard to get swanky in Winston without going old south or stuffy, I think.
I'd recommend reading: Accidental Mysteries http://accidentalmysteries.blogspot.com/ By John Fster a nted collector of vernacular photography who manages to find someting cool to post abut every M-F, and you should read Strange Closets http://www.strangeclosets.com/ a design blog written by Tate Gunnerson who does writing and photography for a numer of Chicago-area design/home & garden mags - both are loads of fun!
I will selflessly offer up my own blog: everydayattic.blogspot.com. Also, you might like sometimessweet.blogspot.com (sassy high school English teacher) and 6thstreetdesignschool.blogspot.com (home design fun).
Gosh, I wish I needed more to read! I feel like I can't stop adding blogs to my reader. Like everyone else, I too will plug my own. Head on over. I hope you like it.
My first thought was the Millenium Center or SECCA, but those would be good for larger parties. For a smaller space, I suggest 823 Reynolda (www.823reynolda.com).
Oh hell, since everyone else is doing it: I'm at www.magchunk.com. Home decor, some fashion, a love of built-in bookshelves. If I had MY windfall, it would include a store pretty much exactly like yours (but rainier, in Seattle)
come on over to my blog - you are most welcome! can't help you with with other requests though. If you find out about how to make a windfall happen, please let me know! KG
Jamie - Do you read Heather Bullard's blog? I just won a copy of the new magazine she is the West Coast editor for: Flea Market Style. I think you'd enjoy!!
i love new blogs...after reading this list going to be busy all afternoon. I just started one called mikieandkristen.blogspot.com if anyone wants to check it out i would love to have you.
wow. there are a lot of people with blogs out there!
as for SECCA - it's closed for remodeling until the summer.
i'll be moving to winston-salem sometime this year to be closer to family. i'm also going to plan a wedding this year too, so i'm interested in all the recommendations here.
i can't wait to move down and check out your store! it'll be a good excuse to explore more of the state. sidenote: if anyone has more winston-salem related advice, it is much welcome!
Im not sure exactly what kind of blog your looking for.. but I just started a new blog. I love everything u do so we must have the same taste ;) www.bazaarofserendipity.blogspot.com
a blog that i really enjoy is theglamlamb.blogspot.com and High heel foot in the door blog but im sure you've heard of that one.
I seem to recall you're starting an online store - that should land you a windfall - your stuff is totally unique, hip and friendly (ie not overly designed, trendy or impractical). Blogs to read? Have you been to Holding Court :)
