  3. That sounds like an awesome job. If you have Time Warner, I think the Sundance channel is considered part of the movie package.

  5. omg. i could so do that. and watch that. and the prices do make you want to shoot yourself! I really need a TV. My husband doesn't like them, so I've been having to watch my fave shows online. It's miserable. Maybe I can get this one online too?!

  7. i laugh at most everyone who takes anthropologie too seriously.. they certainly do know how to drop a lot of women's panties with their speical brand of home porn!

600% markups and fantasy spinny all around...

needless to say- i'll prolly watch it for sure.

  8. so a good friend of mine is a manager at anthropologie. they told him last year they 'might' take him on one of those finding trips this year to southeast asia. sounds so incredible

  9. As if anything in athropologie is an actual antique, and not some tinny crap that's been distressed within an inch of its life.

Hint #1: Antiques are not generally made in retail-level quantities.

I bet what they "find" on these trips are villages that agree to bang this "rustic" crap out at factory-level speed.

  12. I cannot live long enough to read the great books......and watch the tivo stuff I have learned about on these blogs!

I love Anthropolgie! I find it stimulating and original!

I am an old bird....decorator for 40 years.......I think the things that are labeled antiques.......really are. "100 years old"
I think they are entitled to their mark-up.....they pay the air fare and the hotes...and expenses....for the people with "the eye"!

come on..... I love this quote from the depression......:

"If it were easy; Billy and Susie could do it!"

It isn't easy....it takes a great and trained eye.....and I don't think the ones I have seen here in the store in Santa Barbara.......are fake. And I think this person has a great eye....and passion for his job.

My idea of heaven. I'm with you. I could do that job!

so funny about the villages.......you bet! "Hit that thing with chains....and that funny hammer thing."

However......there is a very , very good eye operating there. Don't dismiss to easily. That is a great job. This blogger is correct. Were I not a Mom and wife......I would have loved. loved . loved that job!

Don't let cynicism take over! There are real treasures out there.....and even if the mark-up is 600 percent......those treasures are getting into houses and places that will place orders that just might rescue that village and its children!

I say Bravo to Anthropolgie for its bringing taste....real taste.....to the general public......and rescuing people in remote villages across the world!

    Love it!

    ps
if one is interested......google "Penny Bianchi" (in quotes)

to see my house, my husband, and all my animals in 2002!!
    Like it? or not!

  14. Um, yeah. Would love to have that job!
And I love how he got it too! Many people who have the most interesting jobs seem to sort of fallen into to them. Which makes me all kinds of jealous!

But I'm in agreement on the mark-up. It's ridiculous. But that doesn't mean that their stuff isn't pretty!
