rock me mama anyway you feel

By 8/11/2009

last night we went to see old crow medicine show @ koka booth in cary.

it was hot as balls. balls. 95 degrees at 8:00pm hot.
i had to physically separate my thighs ere so often and tuck them back to the sides so the middle wouldn't covalently bond

old crow is great, but they had too many other people i didn't care for (it's called the big suprise tour) on stage with them, and no one really rocked out to my liking. i am not a fan of gillian welch, who was all over the place last night, but here's an instance when she's tolerable, i guess

i'd prefer bonnie raitt. generally, with any decisions, i'd go for bonnie.

if you're not familar with old crow, you probably are and don't know it. reference:

  1. jamie, our friendship is in jeopardy. if i could sing like anyone...anyone at all and that includes susan boyle if looks are not part of the deal...it would be gillian welch. wrecking ball is the best ever. danger. serious friendship danger.

  2. I'd like more clarification on what kind of music I'm listening to here...not what I expected from Jamie, but maybe it's a North Carolina thing?

  5. I'm going to disregard the gillian welch thing and just say that i am crazy jealous of all these east coast peeps going to the big surprise tour! they stopped in charlottesville too.

  6. Going to concur with a few of the ladies above... gillian is brillian(t)(see it rhymes) and you are slightly coo coo! She has only rolled through Texas ONCE in the past million years, (outside of some festival bullshite) and i would be mighty grateful if i got a chance to go to a surprise concert...

  8. am curious as to specifically why you don't like gillian...too quiet, too slow, too brooding? i get the feeling you were up for more of a hoe down, am i right?

i love gillian welch and david rawlings, but can understand why some don't...i work at a record store and one of my coworkers called them "possibly the whitest people alive..."

  9. Oh I love O.C.M.S. They're (well it's the same Big Surprise Tour as you saw) playing here (Nashville) Thursday but sadly I have to work. I've seen them a few times and it's always a good show. As for Gillian Welch, come ON!! She's great :)

  10. Oh. My. God. nothing is funnier than the Covelant bond audio POURING out of my speakers in my office. I'm sure my boss was like "uh, what the hell is that?"

  11. I love OCMS! Especially "Caroline." My three year-old sings along to it.
