process this intrawebs

i'm a googler. if i need to do something, or diagnose something, or learn something, or identify something, i google.

so here google. offer this up.

i took the microfiber covers off of the couch and washed them in the washing machine.

woolite and handwash cycle.

then i air dryed them.

and put them back on.

and everything is FINE.

they are clean. they didn't shrink. they don't have water spots.

it is possible. and i recommend it.

i tempt fate and wash ours on extra hot sanitary, but they are cotton and i'm trying to convince them to fade.

Awesome! I have been dying to wash mine but were always too scared. I'm going to try it this weekend.

Microfiber, or the original Ultrasuede, was made to go right in the washing machine, but make sure that any other materials that have been combined with it (linings, etc) can go in the machine too. Microfibers don't get dirty or stain as easily is because it is not a woven fabric. Most dirt and stains can be wiped off because there are no woven fibers to trap them.

Rowdy must not be a fan of standing on the arms of the sofa, then. When i wash my cushions, the difference is highly visable. I've tried barriers...blankets...bitch just knocks em' off.

You are a microfiber guru. I've been using your baby wipes tip for months now. And actually, I was wondering this very thing just a few days ago. Now I have the balls to do it.

I do this once every 3 months to my couch which is micro suede. I have 3 dogs so the couch just needs to be freshed up every couple of of months! Comes out clean and ready to be put back on! It is awesome!

You inspired me to stop procrastinating and wash the slipcovers(twill here) today. The family says, "thank you, Jaime." and, the couch is white again.

I will never own couch without removable covers again. Why don't they make them all like that?

Might I mention that I wash my (expensive) down comforter w/ Woolite on the handwash and then put it in the dryer for 10-15 minutes to get out most of the water and then finish drying it on an outdoor line? It comes out fine and I think it's more clean than dry cleaning. I found this out in desperation after my cat barfed up a giant puddle of hair & semi-digested food. Ew.
