  1. can't wait to see it all shiny and black. What kind of paint do you use to get that high gloss finish?

  2. i do a high gloss oil paint - then finish it with polyeurothane.

  3. Sounds good! I can't wait to see it all done!

  4. There is beautiful detail in all those corner turnings. If you lacquer it all in black, you're going to loose the ability to see and appreciate the intricacies of the woodwork.

  5. Will you post on your blog when it's finished? I can't wait to see it (and perhaps consider buying it!)

Also: What brand(s) of oil paint do you prefer, and do you have any suggestions on how to use it on detailed furniture like this? (Also: Why have you chosen oil paint?) Do you use high-gloss polyurethane once the paint is good and dry?

    Thanks for all your insight!

  6. oil paint is the most durable for pieces that will be used (things put on them, opening/closing door).
i rolled it on with a small sponge roller, and used a small brush on the detail.

i then sand it lightly, and put a coat of polyeuro. on top.
