Oh my goodness!! I thought the whole point of bookshelves was to house books you have read and love enough to own! I can't imagine filling them up with meaningless books, just for looks!

the Strand does this, too -- I think it's a service they offer to set designers, etc. for movies and TV purposes.

Love the categories they offer :o)

it is rather expensive as well! there is also a place to buy antique books (circa books). To be quite honest, it kinda peeved me when my clients would ask me to provide books. Call me old fashioned, but i feel like it means something when you have read all the books on your shelves!

I had a customer looking for an old blue leather book. It didn't matter what the subject was; she needed it for a 'tablescape'.

I've done the same with kitchen gadgets, but I lied to myself about needing them. I had to have a Delonghi espresso maker; it would save me money. I also had to have a food processor. Both look very cool in my pantry. I never use them.

I think they advertise in the New Yorker as well... One of those little ads similar to the floor mat pad, or plastic mat for your table.

This kind of depresses me. Like when someone suggested I cover all my books in white paper. I like to have books that I like (although I have chosen a couple of vintage books for their titles).
