a few things from the bedroom

cat hair makes me ill. not physically, but mentally. fighting it consumes me.

we have three cats and their dog sanctuary is our bed. so it's covered, all the time. the best way to combat it, i've found, is a pet sponge, and a constant washing and changing of sheets.

last night i washed everything, including the comforter, only to have them pile back on, one by one. here's what i'm up against:

also, you have to find happiness where you can. in the closet it's my one organized nook. just one.

{sorry for the crap photos - camera is dunzo again. anyone have any suggestions for a new one?}

LOVE your comforter, where did you but it? Or did you make it?

Oh my gosh, I know what you mean. Except that I only have 1 cat. He's not even long haired, but he sheds SO much and I hate having to get the vacuum cleaner out all the time. I may have to try that pet sponge.

Thanks for the tip!

Put on a pair of yellow rubber gloves (dishwashing) and run your hand over the comforter in short sweeps. It will look like you are peeling off layers of cat hair.

I love your blog, such creative ideas and you have wonderful taste!

I am not sure what camera you had before, but you seem to post pictures often. I have the Canon G9, and I LOVE it. Its a step between an SLR (which I also have) and a point and shoot. I hope that helps.

The Canon Powershot A1000IS. It is an EXCELLENT camera. 10mp, 4X optical zoom, image stabilizer, uses AA batteries, it has an auto setting but also allows you to shoot with custom settings. Cost efficient too.

Makes my OCD so much easier. Also the best point and shoot ever: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W150

Does the pet sponge work? Please tell me it magics all the hair out of the house, and sucks it off the pet before it even hits the floor, because that's what I could really use.

I'm not sure why I decided to mix my allergies with a long-haired dog. Stupid. But she's so cute.

Oh they are so cute. I love them all laying in bed together. I must got that sponge. I have two pups and they are driving me nuts with all the dog hair that they shed.

I love your bedding and very jealous of your closet space. I have an old Victorian = no closet space.

Thanks for the tip on the animal fur. I have two cats and it is a part time job for me to keep up with the fur balls flying through the house.

Haha...such a cute post. And wow, do I ever feel your pain. But aren't they sooo cute!

I'd love to feature your blog this week in the link love section on the sidebar of mine. I get so much enjoyment here! Anyway, I was wondering if you have a particular photo you'd prefer I'd use as the "icon" for your blog. If so, write me at cabrera.suzanne[at]gmail[dot]com

Cheers!

I feel your pain! I have two cats that love to sleep right on my head, and the cat hair can be a bit overwhelming. Also, your cats are lovely!

that sponge is awesome. i have one just like it for my two cats and two dogs and it sure beats spitting on your hand and wiping the comforter. i mean not that i would do that or anything - well maybe i would in a pinch.

We have 2 cameras and both are great. For my purse a canon powershot sd750 and I love it! I've had it for 2 years now and I've dropped it, tossed it in my purse and the battery lasts forever! That thing is still kicking and I'm still finding new options that it came with all the time! Our other is a Nikon D40 and it's a smaller SLR which is nice for my small hands and it's really easy to use not to mention the beautiful pics that it produces! Good luck!

I've used the pet sponge in the past (two cats - one very little apartment) and it worked great at first ... but after a couple months it started flaking off little yellow bits that I had to vacuum up! yikes. I wonder what I am doing wrong that they fall apart so quickly.?? Granted, they aren't that expensive and I could just buy more but I'd rather it last a bit longer than that.

I'm with Erin - the rubber glove works (my are pink) .... and is easy to clean!

No need to buy "pet sponge." Just use a barely-damp sponge and wipe up those hairs. The rubber glove works the same way.
