delicious deliciousness

martha suggested i make thin crust low carb pizza for dinner

she gave me a recipe:

Thinnest Crust Pizza with Mushrooms and Ricotta

Serves 4; Prep time: 15 minutes; Total time: 35 minutes

teaspoons olive oil, plus more for baking sheets
2 whole-wheat sandwich wraps (12-inch)
2 ounces Asiago cheese, shredded (1 cup)
2/3 cup part-skim ricotta
1 package (10 ounces) white mushrooms, trimmed and thinly sliced
1 small red onion, halved and thinly sliced
Coarse salt and ground pepper

1. Preheat oven to 450°, with racks in upper and lower thirds. Brush two rimmed baking sheets with oil, or for easy cleanup, line with parchment paper then brush with oil. Place one wrap on each sheet; brush with 1 teaspoon oil.

2. Sprinkle wraps with Asiago, then dollop with ricotta. Sprinkle with mushrooms and onion; season with salt and pepper.

3. Bake pizzas until crust is crisp and very brown all over, 20 to 25 minutes, rotating sheets from top to bottom and front to back twice during baking. Cut in half with a pizza cutter or knife.

she showed me what it should look like:

so i did it, and it was delicious.

butterflies in the kitchen!

definitely says SPRING!, ladies!, showers!

and i really wouldn't have a hard time pulling off the pale look. i mean, it might take a little work, but i'm up for it.

and btw, i found the images at the most beautiful blog ever: SENSELESS ACTS OF BEAUTY

martha, you make me want to be a better woman.

my friend val is getting married in may, so i'm hosting a shower for her at my house in april.

martha has told me, as she frequently tells me things, that a pink shower would be lovely.

these are the reasons she cited:

oh martha, i'm listening. tell me more!

wreath in, wreath out OR wreath all about it

i've been feeling crafty lately.
everyone in my neighborhood has a valentine's day wreath up.
so i decided to make a st. patrick's day wreath. this is only because i had green tissue paper instead of red. not because i am a neighborhood rebel.

on the topic of pigs

these are cute.

a cultural posting to celebrate chinese new year

Lantern is my favorite restaurant.

Not only is it super delicious, but the interior is amazing.

They have this bar in the back that's all dark and swanky where they serve the tastiest cocktails.

*sidenote - I would find it difficult to be a food critic, because once you use delicious and tasty as adjectives, what do you have?

Back to lantern = cocktails = so good.
My favorite is the Dark & Stormy - Blenheim spicy ginger ale & Gosling’s dark rum.
I love anything with real giner ale.

*sidenote -- add 'good" to the list, but i doubt it counts in food critic world

Onto food.
I have a usual:
1) start with calamari salad (Crackling calamari salad with seasonal greens and lime-miso vinaigrette)
2) then fish (teamed wild striped bass with seared ginger, scallions, black beans, steamed baby bok choy and jasmine rice)
3) dessert! (Hot chocolate cake with Thai coffee ice cream)

The only time I have ever wanted to leave Lantern was two years ago when Brian took me for my birthday and Britney and Kevin's show Chaotic was premiering (on my birthday!) at 9. We had to leave... obviously.

So, I suggest that if you would like to celebrate something with me, take me to lantern. We can celebrate whatever, really. I'm flexible.

Happy Chinese New Year

American Apparel 50/50 shirt

i don't get terribly excited about t-shirts anymore, being in the biz-natch and all.

but this, young people, is a fantastic shirt.

sometimes when we're printing a bunch at work, i'll go in the back and stick my face in a pile of them = very soft.

it comes in mens and womens

what if my bedroom at the beach looked like this?
